Short answer: two inner bullseyes in darts are usually just called “two bulls” or “two bullseyes”. There is no universally required special name in standard darts. If both darts hit the inner bull, they score 100 in total. If they hit the outer bull, they score 50 in total.

Last checked: 26 June 2026. This guide uses standard steel-tip scoring: outer bull is 25 and inner bull is 50.

Inner bull and outer bull

The bull area has two parts. The outer bull, sometimes called the single bull, scores 25. The inner bull, often called bullseye or double bull, scores 50. When players talk casually about “hitting bull”, they may mean either area, so it is worth being precise when scoring.

Two outer bulls 50 Two 25s
One outer, one inner 75 25 and bull
Two inner bulls 100 Two bulls or two bullseyes

Is there a nickname?

Unlike 180, Shanghai or big fish, two bullseyes does not have one universal nickname that every darts player uses. Some players may use local slang, but in normal scoring you simply call the value or say “two bulls”. Clear scoring matters more than forcing a nickname.

When two bulls matter

Two bulls can matter in practice games, cricket-style formats, bull challenges and certain setup situations. In 501, two inner bulls score 100, but players usually aim at treble 20 for maximum scoring because three treble 20s can make 180. Bull becomes more important when the route or finish calls for it.

Can you finish with two bulls?

If you have 100 left, two inner bulls would reduce the score to zero, but under standard double-out rules the final dart must be a double. Inner bull counts as a finishing double, so a route ending on inner bull can finish. The exact route depends on how many darts you have and what you hit first.

For example, from 100 with two darts, inner bull followed by inner bull is a possible finish if both hit. It is flashy, but many players prefer a route that leaves a more familiar double.

Should beginners aim at bull often?

Beginners should practise bull, but not exclusively. Bull practice helps central alignment and straight throwing. But standard 501 requires scoring segments, setup singles and doubles. If you only aim at bull, you will neglect the rest of the board.

Bull practice drills

  • 30-dart bull count: score outer bull as 1 point and inner bull as 2 points.
  • Two-bull challenge: try to hit two bull-area darts in one visit.
  • 50 finish: practise finishing on inner bull from 50.
  • Alternate 20 and bull: switch between scoring and centre alignment.
  • Cricket bull close: close bull with three marks, counting inner as two.

Why bull is not the highest scoring target

The inner bull scores 50, while treble 20 scores 60. That is why scoring players usually aim at treble 20 rather than bull. Bull is central and famous, but it is not the maximum scoring segment.

Equipment note

A worn bull area can make practice unreliable. If darts fall out or the centre is damaged, rotate or replace the board. Browse dartboards, dart sets and darts accessories for a better setup.

Bottom line

Two inner bullseyes are normally just called two bulls or two bullseyes, and they score 100. It is a strong visit, especially in bull practice or certain finishes, but it is not the same as the maximum-scoring route in 501.
